Experience & Coffee

Welcome to Mestizos Coffee, a Farm-to-Cup coffee company dedicated to quality, fair trade, and sustainability.

Farm-to-Cup

At the heart of our mission is a deep respect for the people and places behind every bean. We roast and import small-batch coffees sourced directly from individual farms in Cauca, Colombia — a region recognized as a Coffee-Growing Territory and awarded the Denomination of Origin for its exceptional quality. Home to over 94,500 smallholder families, most farming less than 1.5 hectares across four vibrant regions, Cauca’s diverse microclimates and dedication to craft make its coffee a true ambassador to the world. From farm to cup, we’re proud to bring you the story, flavor, and soul of Cauca in every sip.

Mestizos was born from the dream of bringing our coffee directly to your hands and, in doing so, paving the way for other small Colombian coffee growers to realize their dreams. Each bag carries that hope and creates a remarkable experience.

Our Current Coffee

Our maiden coffee comes from the family farm of one of our founders. This single-origin coffee comes from the Las Araucarias farm, located on the plateau of Popayán, Cauca, at 1,760 meters above sea level. Nestled in the Andes and blessed with a stable microclimate, the farm benefits from cool nights and warm days that allow the coffee cherries to mature slowly, developing deeper complexity. The volcanic soils of the nearby Puracé volcano, which rises to 4,646 meters above sea level, infuse the terrain with essential minerals that nourish the coffee plants. Combined with centuries-old agricultural practices and the cultural richness of the region, each bean carries a distinctive and extraordinary character that reflects its origin.

  • Fragrance: Pronounced aroma with layered notes of ripe tropical fruits, sweet panela, caramel, and dark chocolate, creating a complex and inviting nose.
  • Cup: Clean, uniform, and balanced, with a silky body and vibrant clarity that highlights the careful processing and expert roasting.
  • Long aftertaste: Lingering and evolving, with fruity and sweet undertones of panela, caramel, and chocolate, followed by surprising bursts of pineapple and passion fruit that leave a memorable finish.
  • Citric acid: Bright and refreshing, reminiscent of mandarin orange, providing a crisp acidity that lifts and defines the overall profile.

Our Current Producer: Señor Vivas

Harvested, processed, and roasted at origin by Danilo Reinaldo Vivas, a mathematician by profession, university professor, and coffee farmer at heart, who oversees the entire process: from planting and manual harvesting to processing, drying, and roasting. As a coffee grower certified by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia, he combines knowledge, precision, and passion with each harvest. Professor Vivas’ journey into specialty coffee began more than a decade ago, driven by a deep respect for Colombia’s agricultural heritage and a desire to elevate the role of the farmer in the global coffee market. On his small farm, he applies data-driven farming techniques alongside traditional methods to enhance quality and sustainability. Every bean is hand-selected at peak ripeness, then processed using meticulous drying techniques tailored to bring out unique flavor profiles. By roasting on-site at origin, Professor Vivas ensures peak freshness and traceability—delivering an authentic farm-to-cup experience that honors both the land and the people behind each batch.
